About the Books of the Bible

The Bible is divided into two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament.  The Old Testament contains 39 books while the New Testament contains 27 books.  They were written over a 2000-year period by over 40 authors and provide a cohesive, integrated message that originated outside the time domain.  That message is all about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament is the first part of the Christian Bible, consisting of texts also sacred in Judaism, known as the Hebrew Bible. It is primarily written in Hebrew and contains a wide variety of literary genres, including historical accounts, laws, poetry, prophecies, and wisdom literature.

The Old Testament serves as the theological and historical foundation for the New Testament, which Christians believe fulfills many of the Old Testament’s prophecies.

The New Testament is the second part of the Christian Bible and focuses on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as the early Christian church and its teachings. It consists of 27 books, written in Greek, and is divided into several sections: Gospels, History, Letters (Epistles), and Prophecy.

The New Testament builds on the foundation of the Old Testament and is central to Christian theology, providing a record of God’s new covenant with humanity through Jesus Christ.
