God's Plan of Redemption

As part of the spiritual maturation process and the preparation of the gospel of peace, we need to understand God’s grand plan for the redemption of the lost sinners.  LearningGod.org has an entire section dedicated to this Plan of Redemption.  Please read through that section in order. We have already covered the first four (4) topics, so feel free to start at the 5th, which is the The Fall of Man.  Of course, you can go through the earlier topics for a refresher, if you like.

This study will give you a more complete understanding of how all of human history is interwoven into a detailed and integrated fabric that when you pull back and look at the big picture is a beautiful and complete portrait of Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the center of everything, from creation and the Law through redemption, all the way to the Millennial Kingdom and the New Heaven and New Earth that is eternity.

Seeing the big picture of Jesus Christ is essential in being able to complete the rest of the mission objectives we have been given.  We need to understand the Word of God and that means not only what each book is telling us, but what the purpose of the total integrated message is.  Jesus said in Hebrews 10:7 “The whole book is written of me.”

To summarize this study, consider the following:

Free will = the option to choose

  • God – righteousness, or
  • Self – sin

Genesis 3:21 rather subtely  introduces the plan of redemption after the fall.

  • “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.”
  • Their coverings of leaves are replaced by coverings of skin

Genesis 4:3-4 shows what is an acceptable payment for sin

  • “3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:”
  • The sacrifice of an innocent life.

God requires justice for sin, which is death, as expressed in Genesis 2:17.

  • “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
  • God cannot be in the presence of sin
  • This death is not only physical death eventually, but spiritual death through eternal separation from God.

God promises a redeemer to take away the sins of the world.

  • “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Gen 3:15)
  • “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (Jhn 1:29)

Jesus is the redeemer that paid for our sins by His death

  • “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2Co 5:21)

That makes Jesus the doorway to eternal life with God

  • “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (Jhn 14:6)
  • He is the ONLY WAY to eternal life
  • “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” (Jhn 10::9)
  • This is the justification that makes us sinless in the eyes of the Father

And the Holy Spirit is our Helper

  • “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (Jhn 14:26)
  • This is the process of sanctification

God offers all of us a way to be cleansed of our sins that meets all of the requirements for His righteous justice.  Jesus Christ is that way!
