Victorious Overcomers Series

We must become
before we do

All that we do before we become is fleeting and temporal. What flows from a transformed heart — that lasts forever.

Most believers are not walking a formation path. They are managing a Christian life — attending, serving, studying, trying — and sensing, quietly, that something is not finished. The gap between what they believe and what that belief is actually producing in them is real. And most of them have no map for it.

That gap is not failure. It is the beginning of formation.

The Victorious Overcomer Series exists because that map is available. Jesus gave it in the Beatitudes — not as a list of virtues to achieve, but as a sequence of inner transformation He produces in a disciple who stops trying to be sufficient on their own. The promises He made to overcomers in Revelation 2 and 3 are the destination. The Beatitudes are the path. The three books in this series follow that path from beginning to end.

Knowing about God and actually being formed by Him are two different journeys. This series is for anyone who has sensed that — whether you are just beginning to name it or have been living in the middle of it for years.

The three books that follow are designed to be read in order. Each one answers a different question, stands on what the previous book established, and prepares you for what the next one requires. You can enter the series at any point. But the arc is intentional, and the full journey is worth taking from the beginning.

Victorious Overcomers - Book 1

What does the destination look like?

Most believers know they are supposed to overcome. Few have seen the destination clearly enough to walk toward it. Victorious Overcomers maps the finish line — the promises Jesus made to overcomers in Revelation 2 and 3, and what kind of person receives them. Before you can walk the formation path, you need to know where it leads. This is where the journey begins.

The Making of an Overcomer - Book 2

How does God produce that person?

Knowing the destination is not the same as walking the path. The Making of an Overcomer traces the formation journey through the Beatitudes of Jesus — the sequence of inner transformation God produces in a disciple who stops trying to be sufficient on their own. Each stage changes how you think, how you speak, and how you act. This is not a book about trying harder. It is a book about what God does in you when you finally stop.

Rest In the Fire - Book 3

What does it look like to trust God while the formation is still happening?

The fire does not stop. That is not a problem to solve — it is the reality every formed believer eventually faces. Rest in the Fire is written from inside the furnace, not from the far side of it. Drawing on Daniel 3 and the Gethsemane account, it traces what it means to stop managing outcomes, accept the cost of obedience, and discover that the fourth figure in the fire was never absent. The formation is not finished. But you are not alone in it.

The Formation Path

The Beatitudes are not a list of character traits to develop. They are not instructions for how to behave. They are a description of what God produces in a person who has stopped insisting on their own sufficiency — a progression of inner transformation that moves from the recognition of need all the way through to faith tested under public cost.

Jesus gave the Beatitudes to His disciples, not to the crowd. That distinction matters. He was not describing the entry point to the Christian life. He was describing the formation path of the disciple who has already entered and is now being made into something. The Sermon on the Mount is a formation document, not an evangelism tract.

The progression moves through five stages. It begins with Awakening — the moment a person stops excusing the gap between who they are and who God is calling them to be. It moves through Surrender, where self-defense gives way to genuine want for God over self-rule. Transformation follows, where grace begins to change not just conduct but motive — how a person thinks about others, speaks to them, and acts toward them. Then Mission, where the formed person becomes useful in God’s hands in ways self-sufficient doing never produced. And finally Endurance — faith tested under real cost, in public, without the option of managing the outcome.

These are not stages a person completes and leaves behind. They are cumulative. Each one assumes the previous and deepens it. A person in the Endurance stage is still being awakened, still surrendering, still being transformed. The path does not end this side of eternity. But it has a direction, and that direction is clear.

The Victorious Overcomer Series follows this path from beginning to end. Book 1 establishes the destination. Book 2 traces the formation stages in detail. Book 3 addresses what it means to keep walking when the fire does not go away. Together they give the disciple not just a map but company for the journey.

About the Author

Greg Jones is not writing about formation from the far side of it. He is writing from the middle — which is the only place this kind of book can be written honestly.

A stroke at age five left Greg with a visible physical difference that shaped the next five decades more than he knew. The armor he built in response was effective and costly in equal measure: a self-sufficient, highly capable man who had learned to need no one — including, in the ways that mattered most, God. The renovation God began in him did not dismantle that foundation so much as rebuild it from underneath, while he was still standing in the house.

That renovation is what the Victorious Overcomer Series is about. Not as theory. As testimony.

Greg lives in Omaha, Nebraska, and publishes through Millennium Media Productions LLC. The Victorious Overcomer Series is his first body of work — three books written in sequence as the formation they describe was happening in real time. LearningGod.org is the platform he built to make that formation journey accessible to disciples who are somewhere on the same path.

He is still on it.
