5. Sardis
The Promise to the Overcomer
“5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” (Rev 3:5)
The white raiment means we get to wear the garment of Christ’s righteousness. Our names are in the book of life, meaning we have a paid in full ticket to spend an eternity in Heaven with our Lord. Jesus will speak up for us so that we can be with Him.
He the Has an Ear, Hear What the Spirit Says to the Churches
This is the second case where the placement of this statement is after the Promise to the Overcomer. There is a deliberate change in the order of the structure. You will find that in the last four letters the order is reversed from the first three letters.
A possibility for this difference is that the first 3 churches are no longer around today and the last four are. Just something to consider!
